We lost a legend July 30. We only had her for 89 years, but Nichelle Nichols brightened everyone's life with her wit, her beauty, and her total class. I've never heard anyone, even people who hate science fiction, say anything negative about that woman.

It's really odd for me to be working Monday through Friday now. I'm used to taking a day or two off every couple of days. Of course, I'm also used to those killer 12-hour days so that part doesn't bother me. However, vaccinating is a non-stop job: one shot after the other with only a 30-minute break for lunch. Finished another article for my client (all about longevity) and worked up another Amish romance plot (we're doing a series where the baker and his wife are matchmaking). Now I'm going to try to finish my story for "Isolation," the contest run by one of the state writing association's chapters -- winners just get Amazon gift cards, but hey, a prize ( Read more... ) -

Finally got around to binge-watching Downton Abbey. I actually found myself watching most of it rather than just listening to the script. I think their research department is to be applauded and I did like most of the characters. I think there were a few convenient deaths, but after all, it was a soap opera. Everyone made it to the beach safely. We arrived a bit early and had to wait 30 minutes for Housekeeping to finish cleaning, but the main street of Garden City Beach has 2 gyms and 2 Poke-stops for Pokemon Go so we were amused while waiting ( Read more... )
